Reading Incentive Program

What Is It?

Joust Read is a school-wide reading incentive program designed to help our NCE Knights be successful students. Depending on grade level, students earn either Joust Tags or Joust Pages and may be eligible for a special year-end field trip called Destination Unknown. Shhh! It’s a surprise. Students don’t know where they are going until they arrive at the destination.

How it Works: Kinder - 2nd

Kindergarten through second grade students collect Joust Tags while earning awards along the way. Students must obtain a Joust Tag reading sheet (ex. Animal Stories) from the library prior to beginning the work. Each reading sheet will list the requirements to earn the Joust Tag for that topic. Students who earn 15 Joust Tags will be eligible for Destination Unknown.

Frequently Asked Questions

How it Works: 3rd - 5th

Third through fifth grade students can accumulate Joust Pages while earning awards along the way. Participation is simple! The student choses a book and records the number of pages read. Students who read enough pages will be eligible for Destination Unknown.
